Sketchlife

To install Sketchlife on Windows:

  1. (Make sure that SketchUp is installed and it runs.)
  2. Find the directory into which SketchUp is installed:
    1. Right-click on the icon that you use to run SketchUp.
    2. Select the item "Open file location".
    3. Right-click on the "Plugins" folder.
    4. Select "Properties" (normally the last item on the menu).
    5. A property page (window) will come up. On it, find the "Location" field. It might be something like
      C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7
      Remember (or write down) this path.
  3. Now unzip the Sketchlife files into the Plugins folder:
    1. Click on the big "Download" link on the left, above the menu on this web page.
    2. A small window will come up. Select "Save File" (if you are running Firefox)
      OR Click the "Save" button (if you are running Internet Explorer).
    3. (You might be asked to Allow the content to be opened at some point.)
    4. After the download is finished, locate the folder containing sketchlife.zip using Windows Explorer:
      • Firefox users, in Firefox, access the menu Tools|Downloads, and in the Downloads window that appears, right-click on sketchlife.zip and choose "Open Containing Folder".
      • Internet Explorer users, click on the "Open Folder" button after the file has downloaded.
    5. A Windows Explorer window will appear showing the folder containing sketchlife.zip.
    6. Now, click on the location bar, as shown in the following diagram: Where to click for installation
    7. Type this into the bar exactly: explorer sketchlife.zip. Press Enter. (This will use Windows Explorer to unzip the file.) See the diagram below: What to type.
      A Windows Explorer window should appear, showing the contents of sketchlife.zip.
    8. Click the "Extract all files" button near the top.
    9. Now enter the folder name we have found before, including the "\Plugins" directory at the end. It might be something like
      C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Plugins
    10. Press "Extract".
  4. Close SketchUp if it is open.
  5. Start SketchUp. If you see a new toolbar with Sketchlife icons, you have installed Sketchlife successfully.
